I loved it. I loved it. I loved it. I loved it.

The way they juxtapositioned Jack's death with their scene at the church and his realization that he died. And when he closed his eyes and the show came to an end and came full circle. I LOVED IT!

It did make me a little sad to think that Jin and Sun never got to raise their daughter and that John never got to be with Helen. And seeing John remember his life when he wiggled his foot made me remember how much I missed the old island Locke. But I think it ended just the way I wanted it to. You know I'm a stickler for unanswered questions but I think I'm satisfied with what we were given.

I think some people will be upset with how the show ended but I liked it because since its inception the show has been more about the characters and their personal journey than the island and its strange backstory (and that's coming from a sci-fi nerd....so....there).

It's fitting that in it's last few minutes, the show focused on the characters and let the remaining secrets of the island to interpretation.

I'm going to go watch the last five minutes and cry all over again.

yes but what IS the island? What the heck was up with the Dharma, why did jack "not have a son"? who the hell is widmore? all these questions and more. i did love all the reunions though. and really, did i expect all answers to be clear in the end? maybe.

Well, I can answer why Jack didn't have a son....

All of that 'other' reality since the beginning of this season was their afterlife.

So in Jack's afterlife he created a son with Juliet, and Locke created a world in which his father was loving and Daniel created a world in which he played the piano....etc...

But everything on the island was real. They all ended up in the afterlife after their eventual deaths. I got the impression that Hurley and Ben lived a lot longer than everyone else from when Hurley said "You were a good number 2".

My 'interpretation' of Dharma and Widmore and all of that was that some others had discovered the island's properties and wanted to reap it's benefits. In last Tuesday's episode Widmore, right before he died said he brought Desmond back to the island because Jacob visited him and 'persuaded' him to see the error of his ways.

I guess I liked how it all came full circle with him opening his eye in the beginning of the series and him closing his eye in the end. It was poignant which went a long way for me:)

My husband and I love the show...but we wanted some questions answered. Overall I think the ending was good, I just hated all the 4 minute long commercials.

I watched it last night, but saved it on the DVR to watch again. They left enough open philosophically that there can still be discussion, but they did tie it up pretty neatly.

BUT, what did Eloise mean when she asked Desmond, "Are you taking my son" and he said "not with me".....?

Also, I think Sun and Jin still get to have their baby. If Clare can give birth to Aaron- while dead (cause he was there at the church), then Sun and Jin can have their baby...remember when they saw the ultra sound was when their memory came back, so I think she's pregnant in the after life (if we can wrap our heads around that one?!).

Heather,
I think Eloise meant Desmond was taking Daniel to heaven (moving on) but Eloise was not coming....yet anyway.

Yeah, SOOOO many questions but I feel satified. It really brought things full circle & totally made me cry. All the couples, and flash backs, & all that made me happy. There are things I'd do differently & if you could answer the 4 toed statue that'd be great but all in all I liked it a lot.

I think I need to watch it again. I cried at various parts--especially Aaron's birth--birth always gets me, but the end left me cold. I wanted more.

OMG indeed! i was just traveling your blog (which I love, thank you!), and accidentally ruined the end of LOST for myself! I haven't watched it since Season 1, but figured I'd get around to it eventually. Dang.
On a related note: I also share your love of Battlestar Galactica- did you know they're now filming a prequel series about Adama's career on Caprica?
thanks again for the great blog.
