Interesting! And cute.
Though many areas have minimum size restraints for bathrooms, and that would be too small. I know because I live in a house from 1955 that has a 1/2 bath that is about this size, squeezed into the first floor (though not under the steps - how cute!). Many neighbors do not have this, and were told by contractors that they were not allowed to add one so small anymore. We got lucky and ours is grandfathered in ...
Man. That's a bummer. Maybe could be done without permit with an 'under the table' contractor. But I guess you couldn't include it in the home specs if you were reselling later. But maybe would be worth it on a personal level if you only had one bathroom.
Or hey....
Maybe if you rebuilt your stair case to be wider it might work? That seems like a lot of work but I know some people spend a lot of $$$ on their bathrooms.
