The sad, sad state of my ipod

Wednesday, August 12

For one reason or another I've been neglecting the upkeep of my ipod. About two years ago, someone broke into my car and stole my 30G. More valuable than the cost of the ipod was the cost of the thousands of songs which were irreplaceable simply because I could never have remembered each and every one. I was devastated.

Ever since then I haven't been so good at upkeeping my library. All my will power was lost (along with my wallet and XM radio). I don't think I've added a song since The Fray came up with their last album. But today I took a bath while listening to Snow Patrol's "Lightning Strikes" for the gazillionth time and decided it was time to climb back on the horse to better my ipod.

But I think I need your help. Here are a few songs I've had on my to do list:

Show Me What I'm Looking For- Carolina Liar
9 crimes- Damien Rice
Bitter Heart- Zee Avi
Falling Slowly- Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova
All We Are- Matt Nathanson
Can't Go Back Now- The Weepies
Light as a Feather- Jesse Harris
A Dustland Fairytale- The Killers
Funny the Way It Is- Dave Matthews Band
Falling Apart- Matt Nathanson
You Don't Know Me- Ben Folds Featuring Regina Spektor
You Never Get What You Deserve- Starsailor
Non Dairy Creamer- Third Eye Blind
Bruises- Chairlift

Judging from my previously mentioned favorites, does anyone have any suggestions that they think might make my ipod sing again?

Thinking Drinking Sinking Feeling by Slow Club, Dream by Priscilla Ahn, That Song by Emile Mover, You are the only one I love by JayMay, What I'm looking for by Brendan Benson, You Really Got A Hold on Me by She & Him (zooey deschanel), Sunny Road by Emiliana Torrini, Glen Hansard has some other good songs too & The Ditty Bops are a lot of fun. You seem to have similar taste in music so you could check out the playlist on my blog at emmylouhart.blogspot.com. Good luck!

I am not sure if it has to be new music or not, but here are a few that are always on my ipod...

Wandering Stars - Portishead
Can't Make a Sound - Elliot Smith
Boa Sorte - Ben Harper & Vanessa de Mata
I Feel It All - Feist
Modern Girls and Old Fashioned Men - The Strokes & Regina Spektor
Either Way - Wilco
Breakdown - Handsome Boy Modeling School
Just Pretend - The Bens
Daughter - Loudon Wainwright III
Young Folks - Peter Bjorn and John
Staralfur - Sigur Ros

...I think it is pretty apparent that I like duets.

These are my top three favorite summer songs lately...

Take Me to the Riot- Stars
Starlight- Muse
The Dress- Blonde Redhead

Also lots of embarrassing music, like Phil Collins and Lady Gaga, but we won't get into that.

go to pandora.com, type in your favorite artist and see what comes up! I've found so many new sons and artists through it. I typically listen to it while sewing and just mark which ones I like as I go along. It also links you directly to itunes with all of the songs you bookmark under "menu".

You should also check out Nina Nastasia. I love every song on the 'dogs' album. Her voice is haunting.

How did you get the music onto your previous ipod? do you not have it downloaded on your computer? Or was the laptop it was on in the car too?
I can't imagine what I would do if I lost all of my music...
