Tired of your boring brown car seat

For some reason or another I've gotten stuck with boring ho-hum car seats. Beige, navy, teddy bear print. If it's boring it gravitates to my car. I've always wanted to buy a new more interesting one but can't justify the cost of the designer brands on the market. Finally....some unique nursery art

No, I didn't forget to write a post today. I've just discovered that it's much better for me to write at night rather than during the day. Ironically, my mommy blog was keeping me from actually *being* a mommy so from now on I'll post late after the little ones are asleep for my coterie to read the next day.

I hope my loyal devotees appreciate this next post. I came across these a couple months ago when perusing (as I do) on etsy. Then today, stumped for an original blog idea, remembered these strange portraits and spent the last two hours sifting through endless etsy listings to finally find them with a simple google search. At any rate, here they are:

I think these would make great nursery art- a step above wooden letters that spell out your child's name hung on pink ribbons. The artist Lisa Golightly will incorporate your little one into one of her paintings.

Once an order is placed and your images are received, your piece can be created. Each painting is done by hand on a high quality canvas that is 1-1/2" deep, so it needs no framing. Because
every piece is made per order each has unique qualities that make it one of a kind-not the least of which is your child's face. buttoned up and beautiful

Since our move we've been living a pretty spartan lifestyle having bought only one piece of furniture and (literally) flying "by the seat of our pants" with the rest. There was a big hole on the right side of our living room where furniture should be until a friend was kind enough to lend me a pair of chairs from her grandmother's old house. They were probably from the 70s? I didn't take a picture of them then which frustrates me now because I'm so pleased with the "after". I want some physical evidence to compare. The closest thing I have to the "before" is a photo of the back (see below) that I haven't covered yet but as you can see it's an ugly orange crush velvet material. The wood was a black speckled walnuty color. I painted it solid black and reupholstered the cushions with fabric at I found at my favorite online textile store, the repodepot. The result was 200% amazing! A friend commented that they looked like something I bought at Pier 1. At any rate, I've officially solved my living room hole conundrum at a fraction of the cost to buy new chairs AND I get the added benefit of bragging about the makeover to guests. Points all around!
To compliment the room, I was thinking about sewing a slipcover for my sofa with a brown tweed material and dark brown trim. Thoughts?
